The Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for all aspects of systems administration including networks, applications, databases, and basic telecommunications infrastructure support. This includes implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of specialized system procedures. He/she also performs basic systems security administration functions, including creating customer profiles and accounts, monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, tape backup systems; performs systems backups and recovery procedures; writes or modifies basic scripts to resolve performance problems; maintains system documentation and logs; performs or assists in troubleshooting and diagnosing production problems; maintain network security authentication including IP telephony security and secure remote access control systems, application security; administer secure links with public key encryption, anti-virus, user authentication; provide monitoring and primary response and intervention for information technology related security incidents and violations; keep current with new security and network monitoring technologies, applicable laws and regulations. 

Primary Responsibilities

Information Security

  • Responsibilities include the management and supervision of use of security measures to protect data, and conduct of personnel in relation to the protection of data. Responsible for defining security frameworks for existing and new systems. He/she is responsible for implementing security policies across multiple platforms; ensures successful implementation and maintenance of the defined standards; ensures compliance of IT Security Policies and specifically Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards.

Server/Application Documentation

  • Develops and maintains appropriate system documentation to ensure that documentation is current. Oversees the maintenance of the library of system-supporting process and procedure documentation. Works with management and support staff on documentation of all systems, including disaster avoidance / recovery and planning.

Network administration

  • Responsible to support and troubleshoot all the network equipment.

Desktop Support

  • Provides support for desktop operating systems to ensure accessibility of client tools. The SA also coordinates efforts to standardize operating systems supporting the same client.

Account Administration

  • Responsible for adds, deletes and moves of all users of local and remote centers. This includes access to server and call center applications, and adds, deletes and moves of individuals in/out of local or global groups.
  • Works closely with Helpdesk to implement processes and procedures for MAC requests related to user administration.

Change Administration

  • Key participant in change management processes and submits change control documentation in accordance with established standards.

IT Physical Asset Management

  • Responsible for IT asset management and provides reports to site management and IT Manager in accordance with established standards.

Software Compliance

  • Responsible for all site software compliance issues and oversees software installations, upgrades and regular updates of the software as required. Provides monthly reports to the IT manager, as well as provide regular updates of the software as required.

Administrative

  • The Sr. Systems Administrator validates documentation and participates in overseeing vendor installations. The SA will be responsible for interacting with the vendor and IT Management on all technical issues and provide information between the two parties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education in related field or equivalent combination of certification and experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft AD and Server OS environments.
  • Microsoft Exchange implementation and support experience
  • VMware vSphere Virtualization knowledge and experience
  • VMware View VDI knowledge and experience
  • Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Advanced level Active Directory Group Policy experience
  • In depth knowledge of server hardware and troubleshooting
  • Strong problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail
  • Nutanix/Acropolis Virtualization knowledge and experience an asset
  • Experience with current hardware technologies, such as Blade Server infrastructure and cable management in a diverse and complex data center.
  • In-depth knowledge of Security Principles, Backups, and integration of legacy systems into current technological environments.
  • Provide senior level Systems Administrator support to other Systems Administrators
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, peers, and management through written and verbal means.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, internal departments, and other outside parties in a professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience through written and verbal means.
  • Ability to effectively and concisely communicate and interact with senior management and key business community personnel.

Special Requirements:

  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • On call 24x7 on escalated issues within their field of expertise
  • Thirty minute onsite response capability preferred
  • Ability to work within an on-call rotation schedule, assuming full end-user support for a 1-2 week period as required
  • Some Travel may be required
